About Ridge Road School
Ridge Road School is the largest of the four elementary schools in the North Haven Public schools system. Ridge Road is a K-5 school that serves approximately 400 students. For the 2018-2019 school year, the school has 20 classrooms. Ridge Road School also houses the Intensive Learning Services program.
Ridge Road has both traditional classrooms and integrated day classrooms. Integrated day classrooms in grades 2-5 are multi-age and multi-grade. Traditional classrooms are single-grade only. Both programs align with the expectations of the North Haven Board of Education and the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Unified Arts are an important part of Ridge Road School. Students receive weekly instruction in Physical Education, Health, Art, Music, Library, and Technology Lab. As students progress to 4th and 5th grade, they can choose to join the school chorus or the school band.
Ridge Road also has full-time staff in social work, psychology, and special education. These programs, coupled with literacy coaches, math coaches, and paraprofessionals, create an environment where every student can grow socially and academically.
Ridge Road School also boasts a strong Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA provides funding for school enrichment programs, as well as sponsoring school events, such as the "Try-Athalon", Parent/Teacher Basketball Game, muffins with mom, donuts with dad, holiday pies and cookies sale, and a host of other events.
Ridge Road School is a building based on respect, student growth, and student achievement. We utilize the PBIS philosophy where every student is expected to SOAR. This is a school-wide expectation that stands for taking care of SELF, taking care of OTHERS, and ALL of the environment at RIDGE ROAD SCHOOL.
